Bangalore: The Garden City
Your tour will start in Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, known for its pleasant climate, green spaces, IT industry and cultural diversity. You will stay at the Royal Orchid Hotel, one of the premium 5-star hotels in Bangalore, overlooking the KGA Golf Course. The hotel has two distinct dining destinations featuring Indian and international cuisine along with some of the world’s most well appreciated and prized beverages. At 12:00 pm, you will meet your team at the coffee shop and get to know the other golfers in the group. The group sizes are between 12-16 people. We will then drive for 15 minutes to the Bangalore Golf Club. This course is one of the most historic and prestigious golf courses in India, established in 1876 by British officers. The course is located in High Grounds, near the Vidhana Soudha and the Raj Bhavan. It is an 18-hole, par 70 course, with a total length of 6,552 yards. The course is designed by Phil Ryan, a renowned golf architect from Australia. The course is a blend of tradition and modernity, with old trees, water bodies, sand traps and grassy mounds. The course is challenging and rewarding, as it requires accuracy, distance and strategy.
At 1:30 pm, we will tee off and play a round at this course. We will break for lunch after 9 holes and complete the back 9 holes afterwards. Scores are maintained to find a winner and runners-up (stableford) by the end of the two rounds. We will then enjoy some drinks at the clubhouse, which has a restaurant that serves Indian and continental cuisine. You can also visit the pro shop that sells golf equipment and accessories. In the evening, we will drive back to the hotel and relax for a while. For dinner, we will go to one of the many world-class restaurants or explore the vibrant nightlife of Bangalore.
MEG: The Military Golf Course
The next day, after enjoying a complimentary breakfast at the Royal Orchid Hotel, we will head to the MEG Golf Course. This course is one of the oldest and most exclusive golf courses in India, established in 1946 by British officers. The course is located in Ulsoor, inside the Madras Engineer Group and Centre. It is an 18-hole, par 72 course, with a total length of 6, 800 yards. The course is designed by Peter Thomson, a five-time British Open champion and one of the world’s leading golf architects. The course is a masterpiece of golf design, with rolling fairways, strategic bunkers, water hazards and manicured greens. The course is a test of skill and strategy, as it requires accuracy, distance and finesse.
We will play a round at this course and enjoy the clubhouse facilities. You can also visit the pro shop that sells golf equipment and accessories. After the round, we will have a prize distribution followed by lunch at the clubhouse. The clubhouse has a restaurant that serves Indian and continental cuisine, a bar that offers a variety of beverages, and a lounge that has a library, a billiards room and a card room. In the evening, we will drive back to the hotel and relax for a while. For dinner, we will go to one of the many world-class restaurants or explore the various attractions in Bangalore.
